How it works in 4 steps

  1. Eligibility application. Submit cultural eligibility application to the CNC before shooting starts in France.
  2. Provisional certification. CNC issues provisional eligibility certificate ; production may begin in France.
  3. Production execution. Track all eligible French expenses (crew, equipment, locations, post). [CTRL] Prod manages this end-to-end.
  4. Final certification & refund. Post-shoot audit by the CNC. Rebate paid as direct refund from French tax authorities.
▮ TRIP rules and rates evolve. We confirm the current framework with the CNC at the start of every project. The 40% enhanced rate has specific VFX qualifying conditions.

Three international partner destinations.

France is our operational base, but [CTRL] Prod extends to three core international partner destinations. Each with established local partnerships, incentive expertise (or direct track record), and the same operational rigor.

Frequently asked questions.

Can a foreign production directly access the TRIP?

The TRIP is granted to French production service companies acting on behalf of foreign producers. [CTRL] Prod acts as your French executive producer for TRIP qualification : we manage the CNC application, eligibility tracking, and final certification.

What's the difference between the 30% and 40% rate?

The standard TRIP rate is 30% of eligible French expenditure. The 40% enhanced rate applies when the production's VFX spend in France exceeds €2M, with specific qualifying conditions. For non-VFX productions, the 30% rate is the standard.

What counts as eligible French expenditure?

Eligible expenses include French crew salaries (including foreign workers paid via French payroll), French equipment rental, French locations, French post-production, French studios. Specifically excluded : producer fees, financing costs, marketing.

How long does the TRIP process take?

The CNC issues the provisional eligibility certificate within 6-8 weeks of complete application submission. The final certification (post-audit) is typically completed within 12 months of production end. Rebate paid as direct refund.

Can we combine TRIP with other European incentives?

Yes, in co-production setups. Productions splitting shoot days between France and Belgium frequently combine TRIP + Belgian Tax Shelter. France + Morocco co-pros can combine TRIP + 30% Cash Rebate. We model the optimal stacking from your initial brief.

What about shooting in monuments historiques?

France has 43,000+ protected monuments. Each has specific access rules : some are accessible with standard permits, others require Ministry of Culture authorization (Versailles, Louvre, Notre-Dame, etc.). We've worked with all of them : permits are about lead time and the right approach.

Can we shoot in Paris during the Olympics or major events?

Logistics around major Paris events require advance planning : street closures, security zones, hotel availability all impact shoots. We've operated through the Paris 2024 Olympics and major institutional events, so we know exactly how to navigate this.

What languages are spoken on set?

French is the primary working language, but English is fluently spoken at all senior production levels (DOP, gaffer, sound, AD, makeup, art). We coordinate in both languages on set without friction.

What's the first step?
